May Update: Able to Complete A Lot This Month!
– Sun, May 24, 2026 at 07:54:55 AM
Hello everybody! It’s update time~ Some good stuff since the last update, but of course, we’ll lead with the game progress that’s been made! Last time’s goals!
Implement that digitized Munya zone: Done! The zone is fully functional~
Digitize another zone, maybe Tony’s?: Done! Tony’s indeed.
Two more zone’s assets: Done!
Finish all first convos for Tony: Done!
Finish all first convos for Cobalt: Done!
Fill in some small writing gaps: Done!
I was able to accomplish all the goals that I set for this month- The assets have been made for both Renfield and Syoko’s first zones, all of Tony and Cobalt’s first-conversations are written, and I’ve fixed all the missing introductions and such that I could find!
In news not-so-related to the game development, my parents just got a new puppy. As is the requisite pet tax, I’ve included a photo of him in this update~
Moving on- While I might not have a ton to say about this dev period’s progress, it’s definitely substantial! With Tony and Cobalt, two of the characters now have something to say for everything you can bring to them- With all of the ‘first convos’ in place, there’s room to get the ‘we have nothing left to talk about’ response that will, in the final game, occur after you’ve exhausted every conversation option in that tree, but for testing purposes, it’s already set to appear if no other conversations are available.
We’re also past halfway with the assets for the first zones! Six are complete, and five yet to go. I’ve completed seven zone assets, technically, but one is for a second zone, so… Deeper into the game. In any case, each update brings us closer, not just to starting tests, but to eventually releasing the finished game! I thank you all for your patience as I continue to balance my paid jobs with developing Entropic Float 2.
Unfortunately when it comes to balancing, I am about to enter a more difficult period in that regard- Going into June, work’s getting tough to fit in scheduling with itself, let alone with everything else I need to do! Which includes tabling at a few conventions- Rhode Island Anime Con and Portcon Maine are both next month, and it doesn’t slow down from there! I’ll be skipping one update to accomodate- You can expect to hear from me on expanded platforms on 6/14 , but the next Kickstarter-included update will have to be 7/5 ! In general, while this summer will not be as ridiculous as last year to require a full hiatus from updates, there will be a few missed dev periods in there. Convention season and Artfight remain quite the combination!
So, with that bit of housekeeping out of the way, what will I be working on over the next month? For the first dev period, it’ll be:
Another character zone - Bea’s first, probably! I picked up the supplies I needed!
Digitize at least one zone as well
Finish all first convos for Jane
Finish at least 3 other convos
And for the second dev period:
One more character zone
Digitize another zone
Implement a zone
Implement the voice acting that I have
I’ve got the VA just sitting here for all but three characters- Going through and implementing it is another task that feels very daunting to me, and probably won’t be such a big deal once I do sit down to do it, but I do need to fully sit down to do it, with headphones on and everything. Just a task I’ve been putting off for how involved it is, if I put it on the list I should actually get it done. Or get something else substantial done that’s not on the list while continuing to procrastinate on this specific step. Either way, progress gets made!
With all of that said- That’s all I’ve got for now! I’ll leave you with a preview from partway through the zones I got done this month. As always, thank you for reading, and see you in June!
EF2 April Update: Making Progress on Zones! Minigames That Function!
– Sun, Apr 26, 2026 at 09:12:23 AM
Hi everyone! It’s the April update~ Let's jump right in to taking a look at what got done this month:
Finish the assets for another character zone: Done! I made the assets for Munya’s zone and got started on another.
Implement a character zone: Done, except for one feature I'll be circling back around to!
Digitize a character zone (not necessarily implement): Done! I was able to digitize Munya’s first zone.
Write 10 more conversations: Done!
Finish some previously sketched CGs: Done! I had a total of five CGs that had been sketched but not completed, and I ended up being able to finish all five of them~
It turns out that the digitizing process was… A lot easier than I had built it up in my head. I was pretty worried I wouldn’t be able to make it work in a way that made sense, but it turned out just fine- It didn’t take too long, and my approach worked on the first attempt without needing to adjust, so I’m much more confident about the process moving forward!
Meanwhile, with Greta’s zone- ‘done for now’ is where I’m going to leave it. It’s fully functional! I encountered only one confusing moment while coding it in, otherwise everything went smoothly! There’s one visual-clarity effect that I haven’t been able to figure out just yet, but that’s going on the bottom of the priority list to come back to much later. In short- It’s good, but there’s an optional improvement I may or may not eventually be able to make. For now, I’m just glad it works right!
My next update on other platforms will be 5/10 - That’s mother’s day, so I do need to account for making my mom’s gift before then too! I’m also tabling at a pride event on 5/2 (For historical reasons, this town holds theirs early to be the first pride festival of the season for the region) and my birthday is 5/4 (If anybody wants to draw an EF character or make an etsy purchase as a birthday gift to me, I wouldn’t complain-) so with all of that in mind, I don’t want to get too ambitious with this list. So…
Implement that digitized Munya zone
Digitize another zone, maybe Tony’s?
Make the assets for another zone
Focusing in on some more zone-related tasks for this development period, just one of each flavor! A reasonable amount for me to take on that represents a fairly large step forward in the development. At this point, all that stands in the way of early testing are some zones and some conversations. We’ve still got quite a ways to go with the game, but the foundations are here~ So, following up on that list, what else will I be working on in the rest of May, before the 5/24 devlog here?
One more zone’s assets
Finish all first convos for Tony
Finish all first convos for Cobalt
Fill in some small writing gaps (eg. some characters are placed on the map without a full introduction segment written)
Per usual, I’ll be jumping right into the second-half goals if I happen to complete the first-half ones particularly quickly- I’ve got my fingers crossed! While I’m already becoming busier again, I actually got ahead on some things this past month. Spring has sprung, and with it, some extra energy, it seems! I’m hoping to get a lot more done while I can.
I’ll leave you for today with one of the CGs I was able to complete in this development period. Thank you, as always, for reading! See you next time.
March Development Update: Lots of writing!
– Sun, Mar 29, 2026 at 03:41:54 AM
Hello everybody! Welcome to the second March update, or the only March update if you’re on Kickstarter. This month, I was able to make a good bit of progress! Not a ridiculously powerful burst of productivity or anything, I’m still struggling to get my body on the same page as my brain, but the rest I’ve been able to take this month has also been helpful. I’m feeling more prepared to handle the next busy stretch and to continue creating for EF2 in the meantime.
So, how about the goals for the past month?
Implement that key item I forgot about: Done! The first key item in the game can now be acquired and used.
Finish the assets for another character zone: Done! The Bea zone I previewed last time has been completed.
Write 8 more conversations: I'd written 5 more by the mid-month update, but...
Do some housekeeping tasks: Done!
Write at least 5 more conversations: Done! And more, I absolutely made up for falling short of 8 earlier in the month.
The housekeeping tasks I was able to get done include improving the conversation outline status and making some important layout changes to the Entropic Float discord server, as I realized it was still reflecting a pre-release status quo in some areas! I had been adding things where needed, without going back and removing things that were no longer relevant. Now it’s all cleaned up! Moving on…
Here’s a conversation progress bar! I’ve been doing well with these lately. This number may appear to represent a small fraction of the total, but a good portion are conversations which can wait until after the early beta test is available- We’re getting quite close to the amount that would be needed to consider the earlygame playable. So, what about the goals for the next portion? Before my next update on 4/12, I’d like to:
Write another 5 conversations
Finish the assets for another character zone
Implement a character zone
It’s true that I actually did write 10+ conversations over the last development period, but since I’ve gotten in the groove with them, I’m interested in continuing to work on more! Then, the character zone objectives- I’m hoping to draw the assets for Munya’s first zone, and to implement the assets for Greta’s first. Unlike most other characters, the assets for Greta’s are already digitized, so I can get the hang of the implementation without attacking the digitization step along the way this time. Tackling one new task at a time!
As for the following update on 4/25, those goals will be…
Digitize a character zone (not necessarily implement)
Write an additional 5 conversations
Finish some previously sketched CGs
Something new, something regular, and something that past me already got started on! And of course, should I finish the first batch for the month, I’ll jump right into the next- Though that seems unlikely, with Anime Boston coming up during this development cycle. I didn’t make it through the lottery to get a table, but I’ll still be attending all weekend!
So, that’s what I’ve got for now. Thank you, as always, for reading! See you next time, and I’ll leave you with this artfight of Rashmi and Amelie by UnluckError404 ~
EF2 February Update: Apologies For The Wait!
– Sun, Feb 08, 2026 at 10:10:04 AM
Hello everybody! So, as you may have noticed… There was no regularly-scheduled devlog on January 25th. The skipping of that update was mentioned at the time on the discord, and on my personal tumblr (though not the official one) and that’s about as much as I could manage that particular weekend.
To make a long story short- December is usually slow at my day jobs. January and February are usually not slow, but are primarily occupied by a particular project that I’m skilled at, which leaves me with a comfortable amount of free time. This year, December was busy, and another much more intensive project was scheduled alongside the usual Jan+Feb project. That intensive project really beat me up that week, including an unexpected 13-hour-shift with only a 15 minute break, and just the idea of needing to write and cross-post a devlog across every platform was too much for me, so I had to skip it.
Not to get too into the weeds on my personal life, but to put it the most simply, I am overwhelmed and not doing particularly well- So, with the goal of showing myself some kindness, this will be February’s only update and I’ll try to get back on track with these in March.
But! Just because I wasn’t able to make the previous update, doesn’t mean I didn’t get some goals done~
Write 6 conversations: Done! More than six, actually- In the March update, once I’ve done a few more, I’ll share an updated progress bar
Finish the assets for at least two character zones: Done, actually! Obviously not implemented yet, but the assets are created for Tony’s first zone and Greta’s first zone. I’ll share a little piece of that below~
Implement a key item: I completely forgot I added this goal, so, not done, oops.
So, despite everything going on, progress is still being made and will continue to be made. Entropic Float 2 is unfortunately unable to be my first priority in practice, but it is first priority in my heart, so I’ll always make time for it, even while it doesn’t seem like I’ll be getting less busy anytime soon. And so, what will the goals be for the rest of this month?
Implement that key item I forgot about
Finish the assets for another character zone (I’ve already gotten started on one of Bea’s, progress photo below!)
Write 8 more conversations
Though there’s three more weeks before I next share an update, I’m holding back a bit to keep my goals realistic. As much as I might be struggling at the moment, we are continuing to get closer to being able to begin early beta tests- And as soon as I get a break and recover a little, I’m sure I’ll have another burst of productivity here as well. Until next time- Thank you, as always, for reading.
Happy New Year! December Devlog~

– Wed, Dec 31, 2025 at 02:55:46 PM
First off- I delayed this update by a couple days so that I could post on New Year’s Eve! Here’s a themed doodle of Bea for the occasion!
2025 has been a chaotic and challenging year, for a whole lot of reasons, so I’m happy to welcome 2026 and hope that it’s a little bit kinder to me and to the development process of Entropic Float 2. I feel it’s promising on that front though! Let’s take a look back at this month’s goals, as much as I was able to fit them around the holidays.
Draw the remaining backgrounds necessary for area 4 - Done! Sharing one of those below~
Draw characters for the Area 4 backgrounds: This is done!
Draw and implement Objekts for Area 4: They’re drawn, and they’re partially implemented!
Make the assets for another character zone: I didn’t get to this one, I did a bit too much crafting this month to have the juice left for it, but January should be different~
So, I got a fair bit done! The Objekt implementation is a matter of- They’re implemented for the inventory, but not entirely in the environments, because I failed to remember that none of the backgrounds for Area 4 were implemented yet either! So I got started on that process, but it was just a bit of a larger task than expected. This one’s not any kind of a challenge, it just takes some time, so that too will definitely be done in January. Honestly it will probably be done in the next few days, but I already delayed this update a few days for silly holiday reasons, so we’ll just have to wait till next time to report that!
More importantly, as we head into the new year- This is a full set of digital assets for Areas one through four! Three pages of inventory items completely filled in and every environment ready to use- What remains necessary for an early beta are just physical art for character zones, code, and in-game text. The latter two of those promise to come pretty quick once I’m able to get into a focus state with them. Progress numbers on character conversations will soon be rocketing up! With that in mind, let’s set some January goals. By 1/25, let’s shoot to…
Finish implementing Area 4 Environments (Backgrounds, objekts, characters)
Make the assets for a character zone, for real this time!
Write 6 conversations
Make the assets for another character zone
Implement a key item
With that- Thank you, as always, for reading! See you next year~
